December 2008 ROBERTON SCHOOL NEWS
Another year has come to an end and staff and pupils at Roberton School would like to wish everyone in the valley a very ‘Merry Christmas’ and a ‘Happy New Year’ NATIVITY: Once again, another successful Roberton School Nativity was held on Monday 15th December. Many thanks to everyone who braved the cold and came out to support the children. Also, thank you very much to the parents who helped serve tea, coffee and did the washing up afterwards. We couldn’t have done it without you. Here’s what the children thought - The Concert was good, everyone clapped. Everyone saw the puppets and we sang songs. We wore our sparkly hats and crowns. Quinlan, Patrick and Jake made a good job of the introduction. Ross The concert wasn’t very long and I would have liked it at night time because it would be more fun. It was funny when I was wearing Jake’s crown and it fell down around my neck and he was wearing mine. Patrick At the start of the Nativity play, Quinlan, me and Patrick did the introduction and I thought that we did well. When we sang ‘The Greatest Treasure’ it was funny because I walked out with Patrick’s crown on. Jake On Monday the 15th of December we had a Christmas Play. My favourite part was when everyone cheered because it made me less nervous. Even though we are a small school, I think we did well. This year we used shadow puppets and I think using them was easier than acting. Haru At the very start of the Christmas Story Me, Jake and Patrick said the introduction. The first song was ‘Rocky Road’. My favourite song is ‘The Greatest Treasure’. After all of the songs had been sung everyone clapped. Mrs Gordon gave us a vote of thanks. Quinlan RAG BAG: We received a cheque from Nathan’s Wastesavers last week for £62.40 which is nearly double what we raised last year. Many thanks once again for all your contributions to the ‘Rag Bag’ Appeal. ECO SCHOOL: The children have formed their committee and started work towards the Silver Eco award. Many thanks to the parents who have volunteered to attend on the various dates. EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBERS: Due to the severity and the speed at which weather can change, can you please make sure that the school has up-to-date emergency contact details as it may be necessary to implement emergency transport plans during the winter months. Now that the weather is changeable on an hourly basis, please can you ensure that your child comes to school dressed appropriately? END OF TERM CHURCH SERVICE: Roberton children will be joining Drumlanrig on Friday 19th December at St Mary’s Church in Hawick at 11.00 am for an end of term service. ROBERTON SCHOOL WEB-SITE: With the help of Mr Hunter from Drumlanrig, we are hoping that the school web-site will be up and running early in the New Year. Once the web-site is established, we will be looking for contributions to make this an exciting asset to the school.
